Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph on Saturday is sure to prove a boost to Mikel Arteta’s recruitment plans this summer.
And as well as representing a major achievement for Arteta in his first season as manager, it should also help him achieve his transfer aims this summer.
Arsenal can now offer European football next season, which should help to entice some of their transfer targets, as well as hopefully persuading some current stars to stay – with fans particularly anxious over the future of two-goal FA Cup final hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.
Arsenal ‘send officials’ to to wrap up Fernandes transfer
Arsenal have reportedly sent officials to Lisbon to finalise a deal for Sporting prodigy Joelson Fernandes.
The 17-year-old is heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer as talks over a new deal with Sporting remain at a stalemate.
Fernandes’ current deal is believed to have a release clause of £40million but the stalled negotiations mean he could be available this transfer window for a fee of between €15m (£13.5m) and €20m (£18m).
Arsenal are in pole position to sign the up-and-coming winger and A Bola reports that the Gunners are aiming to get the deal over the line within the coming days by sending officials to negotiate with Sporting.
Aubameyang future ‘already decided’
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s mind is already made up over his Arsenal future, according to Rio Ferdinand.
Aubameyang, who scored twice as the Gunners came from behind to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final, has entered the final year of his contract and has been linked with Barcelona and Inter Milan.
The forward brushed aside questions over his future after the final whistle at Wembley, insisting he was focused on celebrating the triumph with his team-mates.
And BT Sport pundit Ferdinand said: “I think he’s gone from that reaction.
“He’s already decided. ‘I’m going to enjoy this with my team-mates’ – he sounds like someone who is going elsewhere.”
Ceballos would ‘choose Arsenal again’
Dani Ceballos’ loan spell at the Emirates has come to an end following his part in Arsenal’s FA Cup final triumph.
The Gunners are hopeful of retaining the services of the Spanish midfielder, who has impressed since the football season restarted.
And despite a difficult season impacted by injuries early on, the 23-year-old said he had no regrets over his move to North London.
“If I had to choose Arsenal again, I would,” Ceballos said. “Right now I feel like a leader of this important team, a player with stripes. Surrounded by people who believe in you, it is easier to believe in people.
“When you play like this and you also have the confidence of the coach, everything is easier.”
